What Is Starbucks Raspberry Syrup?

Raspberry syrup is a liquid ingredient that packs tons of flavor. It’s mixed into coffee, tea, refreshers, or anything you might want to taste like raspberry.

Raspberry syrup is one of the most requested add-ons, and it’s often paired with white chocolate. It adds a sweet and fruity flavor.

Homemade Raspberry Syrup

What’s In It?

All syrups made for commercial use contain sweetener, flavoring, and preservatives.

Raspberry syrups, in particular, are made with sugar, natural flavoring, water, and coloring. Potassium sorbate is added for preservation.

Homemade versions are simple and don’t include preservatives. They’re made with 3 main ingredients: raspberry, sugar, and water.

Calories In Raspberry Syrup

Sugar in Cup

Syrups are dispensed by pumps, so the calories are calculated by a pump. Each pump comes at approximately 10 ml of liquid syrup.

A single pump of raspberry syrup or 10ml contains 20 calories and 5 grams of sugar.

A drink with raspberry syrup contains 2 to 4 pumps, depending on the size.

Is there a sugar-free version?

You can always customize your drink order at Starbucks including swapping regular for sugar-free syrups. Starbucks even sells a line of sugar-free syrups you can use at home.

Sadly, the raspberry syrup is not part of this line.

The sugar-free syrups come in three flavors: vanilla, hazelnut, and caramel.

Does Starbucks Still Carry Raspberry Syrup?

Raspberry syrup endured a lot of changes over the years. Starbucks discontinued the original syrup due to the controversial artificial dye – made from bugs! They reintroduced it later in a clear version.

Starbucks faced a shortage of ingredients during the pandemic, including the raspberry syrup. There are still unverified claims about discontinuing the syrup. But don’t worry, we have the perfect recipe to make it at home.
